I urge you to support AB 1486, the Public Lands for Public Good Act, which will address our housing affordability crisis by making more public land available for affordable homes and open spaces. AB 1486 strengthens the existing Surplus Lands Act by providing enforcement, clarity, and incentives for redeveloping our unused public lands into a public good. Redeveloping unused public land will create more affordable homes for our neighbors and help our state meet its environmental and economic goals. AB 1486 creates a statewide public lands database, incentivizes affordable housing development, and ensures a minimum number of public lands be made available for public good every year to create an ongoing inventory of available land. Supporting AB 1486 is supporting public lands for the public good. Please share with your fellow lawmakers that this bill will free up tens of thousands of acres statewide to build more needed, safe, stable, affordable homes for California families. Thank you.
