I urge you to support AB 1487 which will address our Bay Area region-specific housing affordability needs by developing new regional funding and programs. The bill would strengthen our region with more affordable homes and protections for longtime residents to ensure all Bay Area residents, no matter their color or income, have a safe, stable, affordable place to call home. As the Bay Area searches for solutions to the housing and displacement crisis, one issue is clear: local jurisdictions cannot tackle this challenge on their own. The Bay Area’s housing market is regional, and AB 1487 offers the regional approach we need by creating cross-county tools, programs, and funding. Coming together across the region will lead to better collaboration, better funding for regional needs, and most importantly more affordable homes and therefore relief to our California families, low income communities of color, and long-time residents. Supporting AB 1487 is supporting the Bay Area to solve regional needs together. Please share with your fellow lawmakers that AB 1487 will provide new regional funding and programs to bring more affordable homes to the Bay Area. This bill will help ensure all Bay Area residents have a safe, stable, affordable place to call home. Thank you.
