Dear Monica,

The Bay Area Housing Internship Program (BAHIP) turns five this year with our fifth cohort, and the application to apply is now open!

Deadline: Friday, March 25

College students who qualify to apply for BAHIP often discover the program through word-of-mouth, so we’re relying on you to forward this email to your networks and otherwise infom folks about the internship! Apply now.

What is BAHIP?
Launched in 2017, BAHIP is a one-year, paid internship program designed to recruit and train students of color at Bay Area colleges and universities to become housing development professionals. By removing common barriers to opportunity, the internship aims to provide a launching pad for college students from low-income communities and communities of color into a career in affordable housing development and project management.

Who Should Apply?
We strongly encourage applications from students entering their last year of college in fall 2022 who have an interest in urban studies and/or community development. Students who are bi-cultural and/or bilingual/biliterate are also encouraged to apply.

Important Notes

  • Preparing to Apply: We encourage our applicants to review the program description before completing the application. Here’s the full application again, here. If you need a Word doc version, please email me directly: Monica@nonprofithousing.org.

  • Info Sessions: There will be two virtual info sessions available for interested applicants to attend. Come to get questions answered about the internship and application process: Friday, February 25 at 12pm-1pm and Monday, March 7 1pm-2pm. Please RSVP/get the link for the webinar by emailing me: Monica@nonprofithousing.org.

Why BAHIP? BAHIP is part of a larger strategy NPH is pursuing to address issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in our industry. Learn more about NPH’s racial equity work in this handy one-pager.

Thank you for doing your part in making BAHIP a success, whether you apply yourself or share with your networks!
